Webpage display

Hello. I am new to webpage design, but have managed to put together a
simple site for my students in FP 2003. The problem I am having now is that
the webpage displays fine on my computer and when I preview in browser at
different settings, but when I open the pages at school the layout is off and
some of the fonts don't display correctly. Is there a way I can make the
webpages display the same way on all computers? What determines how a
webpage displays on a computer?

For starters one issue

Fonts:
Your computer must have the particular font you're using in order to display
it. Fonts are managed by Windows or the particular operating system of the
computer, not (necessarily) by the application being used, and in this case,
Frontpage doesn't embed anything as it is producing plain text files (HTML
pages).

If you use one font on a computer at home, don't depend on that font being
availble on computers at work or college or where-ever, so stick to 'web
safe' fonts such as times new roman, arial, verdana. Don't use Olde English
or those fancy cursive type fonts.

If you must use these, then create the text in an image editor and save as a
GIF/Jpeg image, and insert that in the page - and use sparingly, only as
titles and banners.

Oh, I forgot. I should tell you what it should look like and how it is
appearing different at school (Primary school, by the way, 3rd grade and the
computers are Dell desktops with 21" monitors). On the homepage three things
should be in the top row: the school logo, the words "stretch and grow", and
the school's name. On the school's computers the last item is usually below
the "stretch and grow" sometimes centered and sometimes not. Then, on the
PYP page the page title "Primary Years Programme" should be along the left
side and the content of the page should be right next to it. On the school's
computers the content is below the title and to the right. Also, the left
column is not equal in width on all the pages. I have them all set to the
same width - 16 percent - yet when the browser is maximized the left column
is different sizes on some pages.

Those are the main things I have noticed that are different. In regard to
the question of fonts I understand now that I should either change the unique
ones or just not worry if they appear differently.

1) your outer table is width="1261" by height="1686"
- remove the width & height
2) you are using word/shape art (only supported by IE) which is huge stretching your page

Thanks for the reply. I have removed the outer table widths and heights.
I'll see today if it makes a difference. What should I do about your second
point - the word art?
