Webpage link problem

Web-Guy

Well what's happening when yuo click on a link
to another page on your site?

Nothing?

Does it refresh the current page?

I am thinking that your links are not
pointing anywhere?

I don't know about publisher much, but
I assume yuo can right click on a link and choose
properties. From there if possible find
the webpage link and make sure it points
to another webpage.

For example: /homepage.html
/about_me.html

If you see pound synmbols, #, this will
likely be the problem. It is pointing nowhere.

But I don't use publisher, so I can't say where
your problem is for sure. I am a webmaster,
so I could look at your code and tell you instantly.

But then again, I'm not on this list too often...
once in a blue moon.

Hope I was of some help though... :)

Hi, sorry, I missed it.
I read it thrice too!!!

So, your webpages, are they actually
in a sub folder index_files?

As well, are the pages supposed to be
capitalized? Case matters!

I tried both with capitals, no capitals,
with the sub folder and without. But all
gave me 404 errors, not found.

Did you also upload/publish the other
webpages? All webpages have to be
published online.

It appears that the links are written correctly, and the pages are simply
missing. I know you said that you fixed the problem with the images not
showing, but it doesn't seem that you managed to upload the other .htm pages
that should be in the index_files folder.

Assuming there was some problem in overwriting old files on your site,
delete the old index_files folder off your site and go back to your
Publisher doc, and Publish to the Web and upload fresh web files and a new
index_files folder.

Have you viewed you page in Firefox (or Mozilla or SeaMonkey)? The only
link that is showing is Home though hovering over other parts in your
Nav bar shows there is a link. Also, the text links at the bottom of the
page are turned into graphics and are not clickable.

I followed your instructions and deleted the index_files folder and uploaded
a fresh one and I'm still getting the same error.

You mentioned that the links are correct but the other pages are missing.
Do I need to create more than one index.html file to be uploaded? I do not
know how to create seperate html files for pages 2,3,4,5. Please let me know
what I need to do.

Thanks so much!

I think I answered my own question. The other pages do in fact have an html
file and it is kept in the index_files folder by default. I renamed these
under web options for each page to reflect index2, index3, ...... then I
uploaded them and my other pages now display.

Thanks,

It is hard to say why the default page names did not work for you, and
though you have found a solution, I would take it a step more. Instead of
naming each file/page index(#), name them for the page content. Name them
aboutus.htm, services.htm, flooring.htm etc. That will be much more clear
and less confusing than having multiple index(#).htm files.

Please repost in a new message, include which version of Publisher you are
using, the specifics of what you mean by the "same problem", and the URL of
your website, and we will try to help you.
