website created in Publisher 2003 is not working

My website is www.sandyshusqvarna.com. It comes closest to working in IE7.0,
although some of the graphics appear, disappear, or change to other graphics
(weird!) depending on the computer used to access the site. In IE8.0 only
the home page appears, without a nav bar, on my laptop (which is where the
site is created and uploaded). In Firefox, the home page loads, but with no
working links. We get different results on various other home and work
computers. On one desktop, the home page loads as two separate pages
side-by-side, one with the background wallpaper, the other with the
information. This is the most peculiar thing I have ever seen! Help!

For publisher 2003 and older:

Create a web site with nav bars etc.
Saved web site as "My web site.pub"
With the pub page open
Ctrl a (selects all)
Arrange > Ungroup
This insures that all groups are ungrouped
This must be done on ALL pages individually
Re-Saved using Save As "My web site NBUG.pub"
I take the step to "Save As" so that when I shut down publisher and I get a
prompt to save my changes I do NOT overwrite the master file "My web
site.pub" accidentally.
Publish to the web
FTP to the server
Web site works using IE 8

If a change, update is required or a page is added
Open with "My web site.pub"
Make changes
Follow the above suggestions
BTW NBUG = "Nav Bars Un Grouped"

If you have publisher 2007 the same procedure will work or you can try the
SP 1 update that creates IE 8 compatible pages.

As Spike suggests, you do need to ungroup the navbar and other elements on
each page. Grouped elements will not render in IE8.

As per the background issue, I think that is because of the image that you
are using: http://www.sandyshusqvarna.com/index_files/image445.gif . A
background image is supposed to be a small image that is reproduced as many
times as necessary in the background to fill the "white space" or Padding.
You need to use just the solid background color, and then perhaps add the
"border" on either side of your content as a custom length image if indeed
you want to use it...bottom line is the image you are using is creating the
problem.

Once you ungroup things if the links in the main text still do not work in
FF, then test to see if the text box has been converted to an image. That
will kill the links. Try to left click drag to select text...if you can't
then it is an image. If you have that problem after fixing the primary
problem of 'ungrouping' then post back with the links that don't work and we
will help again.
