Website reverts to old version

I took over a client's website from another designer who used Frontpage
(I do not). The client edits the pages in Frontpage. I made some minor
changes to the site but now whenever anyone tries to edit any page in
Frontpage, all the changes are overwritten and the old pages come back.
I don't know enough about Frontpage to know how to fix this. Any
suggestions?

How are you all keeping changes in sync with each other? Sounds like ya'll
are overwriting each others changes?

Originally, I thought that was the case and I asked the client to make
the changes from the server site by browsing to the page online and
then going to "Edit with Frontpage". However, I then realized that
whenever anyone even tried to open the site in Frontpage (including
myself) from the browser, the files automatically reverted back. So I
have ruled out the idea that they were overwriting the pages. Besides,
it has been making all the pages revert, not just the page that was
edited in Frontpage. I did a little research and it sounds like this
has happened to some other Frontpage users as well but I can't seem to
find a solution other than not using Frontpage.

Hi Nancy,

Opening a page via the browser is not recommended. Instead use FP to open the web site File | Open Site | enter the URL to the site.

STOP. You can't do that. The ONLY way you can edit a FP-enabled site
without messing it up is to be sitting at the server and by modifying the
files on the server with notepad or something. You use FrontPage, or you
don't. Mixing apps will leave no end to the hell you are starting.

Ok, so "editing" is not what you think. I bet your other partner is
"editing" a local file, then "publishing" out over the main site. You need
to sit down with them and make sure you have workflow issues all worked out
and very clear.

Who is the host? Ask them. It sounds like you are working on a "backup"
copy instead of the real one and the backup job is running (from the
unchanged, real one) and over writing your changes. You need to be talking
to someone who knows what is supposed to be going on with the files on that
server.

Also, are you absolutely SURE there is not a proxy server somewhere on your
network or connection that could be showing you old stuff? (hint, any large
ISP uses them)
