Website working fine in IE7 but not Firefox

buddy

Hi,

I have created a website (www.noidue.com.au) using publisher 2007. I am
having some problems I was hoping someone could help me with:
1. I can get it to work in IE7 but not in Firefox. Is there something I can
do?
2. The page fits perfectly to the screen on my computer, but when i open it
up on other computers, you sometimes need to drag it horizontally. Is there
any way i am able to centre the middle section?

Other than that - does anyone have any other suggestions?
Many thanks!!!

1. Go to Tools > Options > Web tab and uncheck "Rely on VML..." and "Allow
PNG...". The "Rely on VML..." option has been removed from Pub 2007.

2. Do not use a Master page in a web publication. Anything on the Master
Page will not show up in FF.

3. Ungroup any design elements with hyperlinks, such as text boxes grouped
with images. The grouping tends to create combined images which kill the
links.

Be sure to compress your images and graphics before you upload your new html
files. Reference: Compress graphics file sizes to create smaller Publisher
Web pages:

As per the centering, it can be done, but it is a bit of a pain. Rather than
rewrite the whole thing:

Thanks for the reply DavidF. I just want to clarify something.

With point 3: Do you mean that i should remove all groupings? Sorry, but im
not quite sure what it is exactly you are saying.

Thanks - i now understand what you were refering to and have not used grouping.
I fixed the things you suggested. It is now working in both IE7 and FF.
However, there is a link in the boy of the text which doesnt work in firefox.
The link is on the following page: http://www.noidue.com.au/index_menus.htm
Do you know why the 3 links are not working?

Once again, thank you for your help!!!

Sounds like you probably have not been using grouping.

When you layout a page in Publisher, one way of keeping a number of design
elements together is to group them together. If you have a text box with a
hyperlink, and you grouped that with one or more other design elements, then
when you convert that page to html, that text box is converted to an image
along with the other elements that were grouped, and the link is killed in
FireFox. If you ungroup the text box, the link will survive the conversion
to html.

Also, if you are using the Publisher wizard built bottom navigation bar,
then it too is converted to an image. If you ungroup it from the other side
menu, then the links will work. But, it will no longer be updated if you add
a page.

Post the URL and some specifics about what isn't working if you need more
help.

Something you are doing is converting that text box to an image:
http://www.noidue.com.au/index_image389.gif
And as I said, when textual links are converted to images, the links are
killed.

It is not readily apparent to me what you are doing with your design such
that Publisher is converting your text box to an image. Have you run the
design Checker under Tools to see if that spots anything? You are layering
some design elements in such a way as to create this problem, but I am not
sure what it is. The problem also occurs on other pages where this main text
box gets converted to an image. Your photo gallery page has the added
problem of your "team logos" shifting over text in the left hand column. You
cannot use word wrap in a Publisher web publication, if that was what you
were doing there. Are you sure you aren't grouping the text box with
something else?

If you could describe in some detail how you have layered the different
elements on top of the text box that is being converted, perhaps that will
be me a clue as to what you are doing. In the meantime I will give it some
more thought, and perhaps someone else will spot the problem.

One way to trouble shoot such issues is to deconstruct the page by dragging
the design elements off into the scratch area, and adding them back one at a
time until I found what is causing the problem...you might try that. I
presume you have FF so you can test the output on your computer.
