Week-end Work day Exceptions in EPM

Hi,

We've set a base calendar that exempts week-end work. We now have a few
pm's that need to use a week-end day as a milestone in their plan. How can
we do that in epm?

Your Project Server administrator needs to set up a custom enterprise
calendar that shows weekend days as available work days. Then your PMs can
specify that custom calendar as a Task Calendar on the Milestones that must
occur on a week. Hope this helps.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your reply. I am the administrator but not sure how to do that -
can you help?

Thanks

Assuming you are using Project Server 2007, log into PWA with Administrator
permissions and then click Server Settings - Enterprise Calendars. Click
the New Calendar button and the system will launch Project Professional 2007
and open a new blank calendar for you to edit. In your situation, I would
recommend you create a 7x8 calendar that shows every day as a work day from
8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (or whatever default hours your people work). Click the
Work Weeks tab and then click the Details button to specify Saturday and
Sunday as working days, in addition to Monday through Friday. In addition
to using the calendar as a Task Calendar for Milestones that fall on a
weekend, your PMs could also apply this calendar as a Task Calendar on tasks
they need to "fast track" near the end of a project. Hope this helps.

Thanks Dale but a bit more needed.

We have a US Base calendar already but unsure how to add week-end days since
today it is only work week. Can you help?

Follow the steps in my last post, but copy your US calendar first. The rest
of the steps still apply. And you must be the Project Server administrator
to do the steps below. Hope this helps.
