Weird behavior regarding attachments

I recently experienced a very odd situtation while downloading an
attachment in Outlook 2003. First, a little background. I'm
responsible for updating content on an internet site. In order to
accomplish this, I need to connect to another computer via Remote
Desktop. My email account is configured on that computer (we use
Exchange Server to send/receive emails). I need to download requests
from my email account on a remote machine. I won't go into the
reasons why I need to connect remotely. Long story short: security.
My email account is configured on two different machines: my
workstation and a remote workstation.

Anyway, I received a request to update some content on our internet
site. The email contained a text file attachment with data in text-
delimited format. I downloaded the file on the remote machine. The
file looked fine, except that a) some entries contained the wrong
fields and b) the entries were not in alphabetical order. Now, here
comes the strange part. When I downloaded the SAME attachment from
the SAME email on MY workstation, a) all entries have the correct
fields and b) all entries are in alphabetical order. I ran windiff to
compare a) the file attachment from the machine that I connect to
remotely and b) the same attachment from my machine. Windiff reported
major differences. My question is: How could this be, when it's the
EXACT SAME file coming from the EXACT SAME email, just two different
workstations!
