Weird DISPLAY Glitch? Everything divided by 100! [updated]

After installing Office update 12.1.1 yesterday, I encountered a weird display glitch today on both my MacBook Pro and Mac Pro computers. Upon opening the application and entering 1 into ANY cell, Excel displays .01 instead. Similarly, if I enter 1234 into ANY cell, Excel displays 12.34. I have not applied any formulas, functions or formats to these cells to divide the entered amount by 100. I have done nothing that I can think of after launching the application. I just enter a 1 in a cell and the problem manifests. I checked my preference settings and could not find any clues or explanations. I rebuilt my permissions and restarted both computers, yet the problem persists. Both Intel Macs are running Mac OS X 10.5.4. Does anyone have an explanation for what is going on or what settings I should check?

Confused.

Look in Excel's preferences on the Edit tab. Half way down is an option to
display this many decimal places. Somehow this option got checked. Uncheck
it.

Thanks Bob. That solved the problem. I don't remember changing this preference setting on either Mac. The fact that it occurred on 2 different computers that were updated recently leads me to believe that the 12.1.1 updater somehow changed the settings. Just a theory, however.

Dumb me - here I just wasted my time answering this OP's earlier post of the
exact same question thinking that the older posting deserved more immediate
attention & here it's already been answered... Twice!
