Weird fonts behaving in Word 2004

Fred BOTTARO

Hi,

Excited about Word 2004 that offers some real clever GUI
improvements (at least for my needs).
But there's something aboput the fonts that causes so much
trouble, I can't use it.

1°) some fonts (Emigre's "MrsEaves" ; one of my favourite)
will not get the spaces between words. So, instead of
different words, I seem to have only one. The spaces are
there, and if I convert text to another font, I the text
appears at it should

2°) with all "Adobe" fonts I've tried, I found out that, if
I insert a non-breaking space, the font after that
invisible caracter turns to "Times New Roman". As I have to
insert a lot of non-breaking spaces (before a footnote, to
be sure the footnote mark won't be first thing of the next
line)

All those problems DID NOT show up in Office v. X !!!!!

Anyone else experienced these problems ?

Not an answer, but some questions....

1) try messing about with Zoom? It's a display problem, and since others
have talked about Word 2004 using different methods to draw the screen (I
think) than Office X, maybe that will help. Definitely Send Feedback with
the names of the fonts.

2) what style manual puts a space between the punctuation and the footnote?
Mine doesn't. (half curious, half suspecting you don't need to bother with
those NBSes) . And are you sure the font change isn't due to your Footnote
Reference Style being defined as TNR?
