Weird formatting question.

I am hopnig someone out there can decypher what I am trying to describe and
offer some tips or solutions. I have a user in our network who uses all the
typical Office products. Most commonly Word and Outlook. With that being
said it is Office 2003 and Windows XP. When she attempts to create a
numbered list in an email or word document, it automatically wants to number
EVERY line in the email or document. For exmaple, she can type 2 or 3
sentences normally which takes up 2 or 3 lines. Then hit enter to create a
space and type 1. <enter> and it will number the first 2 or 3 regular
sentences she just typed. As well, as I am sure this is related, if she
attempts to bold one of the entries in the numbered list it bolds EVERYTHING,
including the items no in the numered list. Short of a re-install of Office
I have no idea which setting to look at to correct this. Can any of you
understand what I am attempting to describe and have any idea how I might
correct it? I am trying to avoid re-installing or resetting everything to
defaults as she has other settings in there she has used forever and likes.
