Weird Office 2003 Installation issue

I have a couple of Office 2003 installations that are little weird now
somehow.

I go to Add/Remove Programs and select Change on the Microsoft Office
2003 Professional Edition installation, then Add/Remove Features in the
Microsoft Office 2003 Setup and then Next.

Normally the boxes are checked for the various Office components, but
now none of the boxes are checked but Office seems to be working fine.
Even when I select the Choose advanced customization of applications
box there are no Office components listed.

I have tried repairing the installation and then when that didn't work
uninstalling totally and reinstalling and still no checkboxes.

Anyone seen this weird one and have a fix for it??
