Weird Problem

G

I am running XP Home + SP II with Office 2002.

I regularly use a registry cleaner, specifically JP 16 Power Tools with no
problems.

However recently I have experienced the vanishing of the drag & drop
facility in Word plus the disappearance of the icon on my taskbar showing me
I am connected to the Internet. I have deducted that this only happens after
I have cleaned my Registry. When I return Windows via System Restore to a
point immediately prior to the last Registry clean up they both work fine. I
guess I must be removing registry entries relating to these problems but I
am at a loss to know which ones. Has anyone any ideas ?

TIA

Hi, Geoff.

These registry cleaners are notorious for fouling up. I suggest you try a
system restore.

Good luck,

I have & it works. But I would like to know the specific entries in the Reg
relating to my problem. This way I can avoid them in future.

Don't use a registry cleaner.

The use of a registry cleaner has been discussed over and over in here.
General consensus is, don't use one. They don't really provide any
value for routine operations.
