Greetings All,
I have a weird situation concerning winmail.dat attachments so bear with me
whilst I provide details.
External users (always from the same originating domain), send emails to my
company, (html only). The emails are received and are intact. The receipient
then forwards this email internally to colleagues, some of whom receive a
winmail.dat attachment. It does not matter who receives the original and who
the recipients of the forward are. It is always the internal forward of the
email that causes the winmail.dat. External messages from other domains do
not suffer this issue when forwarded internally. I have not been able to
reproduce this problem at will. It has not always occurred so I thought
something changed in the original message like a signature format etc.
Interestingly, in some instances, when a user from my company replies to a
message from this external domain, the recipient list shows "undisclosed
recipients". Again this is new and has previously worked so I suspect a
change in the format of the original email.
I am in desparate need of troubleshooting assistance for this issue. Even
though the originating organization is the only one we have trouble with, I
have recieved no reports that any other company they deal with are having the
same trouble.
We are an Exchange 2003 SP2 organization. All desktops run Office 2003 SP2
as part of a soe.
Any hints or tips on where to look for troubleshooting would be greatly
appreciated.
