We're working on it!

Pat mentioned in another thread that we're fixing error bars. Here is a
snapshot of some of the top fixes for missing features we're currently
testing:

- Custom error bars
- Changing axis labels
- Currency formats persist when system settings aren¹t US/English
- Drag and drop page breaks

All of these missing features have been hot topics here in the forum. These
are only a *few* of the many fixes that we're actively working on right now.

The elephants over there in the corner are VBA and Solver, but there's
nothing I can say about them except that your feedback is clear that we let
you down by not including them in 2008.

We are also actively trying to track down reproducible cases for these
issues:

- Super-slow input (Parallels may or may not be running)
- Hang/crash maximizing a workbook window

These are only a *couple* of the problems we're investigating. We can't
begin to fix these until we have cleanly reproducible cases to work with.
Many of you in the newsgroup have been kind enough to take time to send Pat
system profiles and answer our questions. Thanks for helping us try to
isolate the problems.

Please know that there are real people here at Microsoft, Mac users like
yourselves, who read your posts daily (even though we can't respond to them
all). We're passionate about creating great software and are more frustrated
than you are when we don't get it right.

Did you folks realize how many College and universities across our great
Land use excel

Also did you know one of the largest super computer arrays on the Planet
is owned and operated by Virginia Tech. And did you know it was create
exclusively using Macintosh computers.

and did you know if there number crunching depends upon anything to do
with VBA or solver that that number crunching will come to screeching
halt the second they update to 2008??

Many folks from Colleges (not students) have posted on this group and
to say the least they are a little hot under the collar.

Just food for thought.

Be serious -- like any supercomputing cluster is going to use things
like Office, or even MatLab, to do their work.

I have no idea. They may have some unique spreadsheet that on Excel to do.

remember most software companies believe that Mac are just general for
video audio editing design, And is not a serious for mat for any
business oriented uses.

But in any event You should read some of the post for the last month or
so here there have been quite a few people that That belong to C and U's
That are upset, (and they were not students).

WE have been diligently recommending to fire off feed back request with
reasons for it being put back.

I appreciate your work to resolve these issues. I want to add that the extreme slowness in Excel 2008 occurs not just when Parallels are running but all the time. In irony...Excel seems to really fly WITHIN Parallels. I am a very heavy excel user so I really notice when things dont work right. Copy/Paste is especially slow even after the update. It seems that formatting might be an issue. Things clear up when the formatting is wiped but that really isnt a viable solution.

PS. Well I am on the topic of Excel. Re-integrating the formula bar (ala Numbers/all other Windows Excel versions) and formatting pallet into the window would be very helpful. Right now they are a pain and just get in the way. Ill also add my peep to the chorus calling for VBA to be restored--it may be an outmoded piece of code as was mentioned but the prevalence of Windows and Office has meant that people are stuck with it and thus need it to be there. If you really want to axe VBA...kill it on the Windows side too...

I'll follow up on Todd's comment here and say that we are listening to
customer feedback on this newsgroup and your feedback on these topics is
being registered. We're hearing a lot about performance, the Formula Bar,
and VBA and are considering their impact on customers and our options moving
forward.

Thanks,

Pat
