what are idx files,

I have a whole heep of idx files in my documents folder. I do not use Access.
I do use word, outlook, excel please help me, I need to know where they came
from and if i can get rid of them.

Here is a lising of programs that use ".idx" files. See what matches up.

I can not see any programs there that i use - the closest being outlook
express, I use outlook.
I have moved them into their own folder - Should I delete them ?

If you move them and nothing complains in the next month or so, I would
suppose you aren't using anything that uses them. You could look at the
dates on the files too.
