What are the 'right' settings for page size, etc for an 8 1/2 x 11 page

I'm being a bit compulsive about this. I am trying to make network
layout drawings on 8 1/2 x 11 paper using visio 2003. What are the
'right' / 'best' settings for the paper and page size?

I think I am stuck on the tab - print setup & paper size (there's no
scale, I just want everything to show on the page, it has a title
block, etc).

so in print setup, I chose paper - 8 1/2 x 11 in the pulldown.

if print zoom is 100% and on page size, I chose either 'same as printer
paper size or choose pre-defined size 8 1/2 x 11, then when I print /
do a print preview, you lose the text / opjects around the edge. So...

either chose 'print zoom' as 'fit to 1 x 1 page' OR on paper size do a
custom size and then subtract the printer margins from 8 1/2 x 11...
but then if you change printers, the margins change?

Stick with fit to 1 x 1?

Most printers can't print up to the edge of the paper. If the manufacturer
did a good job of writing the printer driver, then Visio can find out what
these "hard print limits" are. LaserJet style printers tend to have hard
limits of around 1/4 inch. Inkjet printer can have hard limits of as much
as 1/2 inch.

I have found that it's best to set page margins to no less that 1/2 inch. I
recommend that you don't draw within 1/2 inch of the drawing page just to be
sure as well.

I'm not sure if I really answered your question...hopefully one of the MVPs
will add additional information.
