What do I change to not leave e-mail copies on server?

Where do I change the settings to eliminate leaving a copy of e-mails on my
server?

Thank you very much Patricia,
I am ONLY an operator of this machine! If anything goes wrong, I panic. ,
When I attempt to change stuff, it punishes me by - - leaving e-mail
messages on my server, for example!
I really appreciate your help.
Thanks again,
GENE

Outlook does exactly what you tell it to do. Don't anthropomorphize an
inanimate object.

I installed Outlook 2003 last month and immediately updated it via microsoft
update. I checked the box "leave copy of messages on server". I've tried to
"uncheck" it, but it only will do so temporarily. Every time I exit and go
back into Outllook, I find the setting checked. I had already installed SP2
and tried to install it again, but it said that it was already installed. Is
some file missing or something?

Settings that continually revert are often corrected by starting with a new
mail profile.

I created a new send/receive group which has exactly the same properties as
the original. I unchecked "leave copy of messages on server". I saved it.
I closed Outlook. When I opened outlook, the checkmark reappeared. The
behavior is exactly the same. Any other suggestions?

I'll simply recommend what I originally said: try a new mail profile. What
you describe above is not what I suggested.

Thank you Brian. I created a new profile. Now what is even more interesting
is that this one will not permanently save the checkmark in "Leave a copy of
mesages on serve"! Just the opposite of the other profile. Both profiles
are operational. Any further suggestions?

I'm afraid I'm stumped. I've never seen that behavior. I am truly sorry.
Perhaps someone else will recognize the symptoms.
