What do the icons of envelopes with "i" in them mean?

What do the icons of envelopes with "i" in them mean? The "i" only appears
on some of the envelopes that are displayed where they show either Read or
Unread.

Means there is tracking information associated to that item. Like a read
receipt you requested or voting buttons or...

it means more information - open the message and see if there is another tab
with additional information on it - it's usually tracking or voting info.
