What does strike-through mean in inbox?

I have some email messages in a personal folder in Outlook 2003. In the
standard view, one of the messages appears with a strike-through through the
From, Subject, Received, etc. fields. It's also displayed in a gray font, not
the normal black font.

I can open the message with no problem.

What does the strike-through / gray mean?

It means that the account is an IMAP account and that you have marked the
message for deletion. It won't actually delete until it is purged.
