What does the anchor symbol mean when formating a picture

J

John

when formating a picture in a document and choosing the Text Wrapping button
on the picture toolbar, some choices bring an "anchor" symbol into the
document. What does this anchor indicate?

Any picture (or some other object) whose text wrapping is *not* set to "In
line with text" has an anchor to a text paragraph. Note, however, that you
must display anchors (either explicitly in the Word Options or by clicking
the ¶ button to show all nonprinting marks) and then select an object to see
the anchor.

An object always appears on the same page as its anchor (but you can set the
object position relative to the anchor paragraph or to the page).

See http://word.mvps.org/faqs/drwgrphcs/DrawLayer.htm and
