Systems: Windows XP Pro SP2 with Outlook 2003 on wireless home network where
my desktop & notebook are identically configured & setup.
Challenge 1: What files do I need to drag into Briefcase utility so I can
use Briefcase to synch & update the specific components - Calendar, Contacts,
Junk Mail (entries for Allowed & Blocked email & domain addresses), and where
on the hard drive would they likely be kept/stored?
Challenge 2: Is there a way to automate the synch & update between PCs',
using Briefcase, so that simply coming into wireless range and establishing
connection by my laptop, it occurs without me having to start/execute an
action?

See if something here helps: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/sync.htm

What I've did (it's NOT supported!) was to create a network-shared folder
and move my PST into it. I can then access that PST from other Outlooks in
my home network. Note: only one Outlook at a time can access the shared
PST. Make sure you make a backup copy of your PST frequently to guard
against data loss. If you need more explicit instructions, reply back here.

Thanks! I will be testing out things as follows:
Challenges 1 & 2: I already had on my PC, a "network" drive (Z:), which is
actually part of my normal C: hard drive (had to create the Z: to allow for
setup and use of a software program that is shared on the other PC's as well
as mine in my home-network, wherein my PC is the administrator and "server"
PC ... simply not a dedicated stand-alone unit). I will use the MS
suggestion to make a selective (Contacts, Calendar, Tasks only) .PST file,
and name it Shared.PST, place it in the Z: drive and have my desktop and
laptop PC's both draw their Outlook .PST files from this location. I am
using the information you pointed me to ...
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/sync.htm (and from there, to ...
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=164407 ) plus your own innovation.
Additionally, I am also experimenting with two software utilities that were
also on the
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/sync.htm site, for purposes of avoiding
and/or cleaning up duplications within Contacts and Calendar. These two
programs are:
Outlook Duplicates Remover 5.0
Outlook Contacts Scrubber
Thanks again for the help, and if my reply to you appears to be overlooking
something critical or useful, I'd appreciate knowing about it from you or
anyone else.
