what happened to the help menu & the formatting palette

I use Excel for Mac (not 2004). After two years of use the help menu
seems to have dissappeared. How do I get it back? Also, the
formatting pallette seems to "fly-off" the screen (to the bottom) when
I try to open it. When switching to "full-screen", the formatting
palette is visible, but full-screen is not always desirable.
Suggestions?

Did you try the suggestions I gave you yesterday?

So is that Excel for Mac 98, 2001 or v.X?

One way:

Choose Tools/Customize. In the Toolbars pane, select the worksheet menu
bar item (so that it's highlighted, not just checked). Click the Reset
button.
