What happened to the PPT smartart graphics "colorful" colors?

I used to create very colorfl PPTs with the Smartart tool. Now, after I
insert a smartart graphic and I try to change the color to a real colorful
set, I can't do it because the colorful colors (a combination of red, yellow,
green, blue, etc) are gone. Instead I only see a very dim variation of
colors... just like the accent colors. So, how do I bring back the colorful
colors to the smartart graphic color options in the Design tab?

The SmartArt colors follow the Theme colors. So if you chose a set of dim
colors in your theme or template, you'll be offered only these dim colors as
a choice for your SmartArts.

You could insert a second Master in your template and use a different set of
brightly colored colors for that. Whenever you need a colorful SmartArt, you
chose a layout from that master.

BUT: SmartArts should not be more colorful than other elements of the
presentation, for design reasons. So if you made a choice of dim colors for
your overall presentation, why would you use contrasting colors for
SmartArts only?

Best regards,
Ute

I see ! So the graphics theme colors brightness depends on the themes
background or template. Ok, makes sense. I do think that some smartart
graphics colors could look well in a colored background.

Thanks, that helped.
