What happens to my MS Office if my PC needs to be formatted

Hi Community members,
I have joined this community recently by purchasing Microsoft Office Home &
Students Edition 2007.
I had one query regarding my Product key that i got for my Office software.
Inspite of use of Antivirus, etc., if for some reason, my PC is attacked by
Virus or my PC needs to be formatted, then i will loose all my data.
With the MS Office CD ROM, i will be able to load the Microsoft Office Home
& Students Edition 2007, but will i be able to again use the same Product key
that i used earlier. Or the above scenario will be considered as a fresh
installation & will call for a new Product key on the same Computer, which
needs to be purchased again.
Please share your knowledge & help me clear my concerns on this issue.
Thanks in advance,
Zafar.

The above is one of the reasons the licensing scam is a scam: it leads
people to think they are paying for the right to install Office or
Windows only once and that they can't install it again on the same computer.

To Zafar: you can reinstall Office or Windows on the same computer as
many times as your little heart desires although you may have to phone
activate if you do it in less than 120 days since the last time you did it.

Reinstalling on the same PC is still only one installation. A retail
copy of Office 2007 Home and Student, may be concurrently installed on 3
PCs in the same household.

Back up the Data that you want to save and back it up to an outside media like a CD

When re-installing you can use the same product key and if you DO need to call over
the phone to activate if it does not over the Net then just explain the situation as
you did in your post.
