What has happened to my word

Hi

Have been a word user for many years and have had the programme
installed on my current computer for the past five years, all of a
sudden (as of yesterday morning), word freezes after being open for
about two minutes and the dreaded wheel of death starts spinning and I
have to force quit. I have done nothing new to my computer for a while
and have not installed any new programmes. Has anyone else experienced
this problem? I tried deleting work and reinstalling it yet am still
having the same problem. Whats going on???

Hi Brian,

Try the standard troubleshooting techniques listed here:
http://word.mvps.org/Mac/TroubleshootingIndex.html

However, be aware that by deleting Word and reinstalling it, the
situation may have gone all crazy, and it may require a proper run of
Remove Office and a reinstallation to clear it out. But you can try the
easier tricks first, if you like.

Thanks guys, I will see how I go!!

Hi Brian:

Deleting Word and re-installing never has any effect on a Macintosh (it
doesn't usually fix anything on Windows, either.) The files that suffer the
problems are never replaced by an installation. So PLEASE don't do that as
your first attempt to fix a problem, because it can make the problem worse.

The first thing I would try for your situation is to replace the Normal
template, as described here.http://word.mvps.org/Mac/TroubleshootingIndex.html

Having done that, test. You may find that you also have to delete your Word
preferences.

Hope this helps
