what has happened to this great site?

I have learned so much over the years from this site. You are an
invaluable asset to those of us who "Live by the Word".

Pretty obviously, all the posts seem to be coming from spammers now.

I'll admit I've sort of ignored the situation over the past month
hoping it would clear up.

But if this site has been permanently compromised, can you recommend
an alternative?

And please accept my sincere gratitude for the dream that was.

Actually, it's not a site per se.
You're using a website front-end that accesses the legacy Word for Mac
usenet newsgroup.
(and your server doesn't have spam filtering).

Try using a different server with Spam filtering.

The root of the problem is that Microsoft decided to pull the plug on
the usenet group, and focus exclusively on it's own Forum webpage (go
to Mcctopia.com and click on the Forum link). As a consequence, the
news.microsoft.com usenet server is no more and the MS forum doesn't
sync with the rest of usenet anymore.
You will need to go to their website if you want to find it "back"
