What if a PM opened and published a project not belonging to him?

Hi, could anyone tell me what will happen in this case:

we have a PM opened a project that is not belonging to him unintentionally,
he found no updates so then published project. Finally, he realized this is
not his project.
The question is:
Will the project resources lose updates submitted to the "True" PM dring
last 'True PM' pulication and this 'fake PM' publication?
