"What if" functions

I have always been able to do "what if's " on my spread
sheets. Now, all of a sudden, I have to save every change
before the calculations will take effect. Has anyone
encountered this problem? Is there a way to correct it?

Is the Tools>Options>Calculation checked for Automatic?
