I'm running Windows XP and had Office 97 installed. Since there are
many functions that did not come out until later versions, I requested,
and got, my IT department to upgrade me to Office 2003 this morning.
Everything seemed to be fine... I didn't lose any of my formatting or
custom styles, etc. I was just as happy as can be.
Until I started actually *working* with the Word files.
The first thing I noticed was the F4 key. I work frequently in tables
and use the F4 key for repeating formatting and such. When I hit the
F4 key, I got the following message:
"Microsoft Office Word can't display help. This feature is not
currently installed. Would you like to install it now? Yes/No"
Okay, rather odd, I thought. Then I hit F1. Same thing. Then F9.
Same message, with all the function keys. Then I hit Ctrl-F to do a
find. Same thing. I tried Ctrl-Home to go to the top of the document.
Up pops that dialog box. Then I discovered that my delete key no
longer works.
The thing is, you can access help from the drop-down menu, so it IS
installed. I have absolutely no idea what the hell could be going on.
It doesn't happen in Excel. I haven't tried it in PowerPoint or Access
yet.
Any ideas? Anyone? Please? I can't function without function keys.
