what interoperability is possible between lotus and outlook email

Dave

I'm not familiar with Lotus Notes but have a customer who has a lotus 5
(whatever that means) based email system and I wanted to offer microsoft
outlook as an email client along with exchange to share the same network
(with firewalls).

Can anyone tell me what interoperability is possible and what are the
pitfalls ?

Thanks !

Depends on the version of Outlook. For Outlook 2003 (I think) and earlier,
there is a Lotus Connector that will interoperate with a Lotus back end. It
was offered by the company who owns Lotus (IBM?). There is no Lotus
Connector that will work with Outlook 2007.

In this instance, we are extending their network and both email systems have
"add-ons" by way of forms driven systems. I was after finding out what the
issues were between two systems that are supposedly SMTP compatible. I have
read a bit further and found a bit more - forms generating type errors...

Brian,

Thanks for your response - I found this connector. For Outlook 2007, do you
know if there is any level of compatibility with the domino server ? or is it
a complete non-starter ?

To the best of my knowledge, "non-starter" describes it.
