What is a PDF file?

S

SA

A PDF file stands for "Portable Document Format". It is the type of file
read by Adobe Acrobat and Acrobat Reader (www.adobe.com/acrobat). You can
create a PDF file using Adobe Acrobat Print drivers or any of a number of
other drivers such as Win2PDF (www.daneprairie.com), pdfFactory
(www.fineprint.com), cutePDF and many more. What a PDF file allows is that
your document is converted to a format which is independent of the
applicatoin and of the operating system and it can be read by a PDF reader
on almost any platform.

The PDF reader is free. You can get it at the site mentioned in the
post below. You don't necessarily need the "writer," which is not
free. Do download the reader; its hard to do research on the new
without it.
