What is a project type of "Workgroup"

On the Admin page in PWA, I go to Clean up Project Server.

In the list of projects that can be deleted, I have two projects that have a
type of "Workgroup". I can't find any documentation on what these are.
These two projects don't show up in any our views either.

Workgroup projects are those that have been saved as .mpp files and then
published. This problem is caused by your Project Server administrator
allowing non-enterprise projects to be published to the Project Server
database. To rectify this situation, your Project Server administrator
should delete the two non-enterprise projects using Admin - Clean up Project
Server Database in PWA, and then disallow the permission to publish
non-enterprise projects using Admin - Server Configuration. Hope this
helps.

Dale,

Thanks for the help. We do allow non-enterprise projects to be published
right now. We have a lot of project schedules that exist as .mpp files and
we're migrating them to Project Server by opening them and then
saving/publishing them to Project Server. I can't say for sure but I think
we have projects that we've created in Project Server this way that aren't
showing up as Worgroup projects.

If I take away this option to save non-enterprise projects, can I still get
the existing projects in to Project Server somehow?

Thanks,

Walter

Your PM's need to import each .mpp file into the Project Server database
using Tools - Enterprise Options - Import Project to Enterprise. Ask them
to pay special attention to the page dealing with resources, and to map each
resource in the .mpp file with enterprise resources found in the Enterprise
Resource Pool. After completing the import process, the system saves the
project in the Project Server database. From there, they can publish the
project.

Also, it's time to turn off that option that allows PM's to publish
non-enterprise projects. They need to start using the tool correctly, and
that option is allowing them to use it incorrectly. Hope this helps.

Dale,

Thanks. I've done an import and will get our documentation update to reflect
this AND change that security setting! Thankfully, the two projects listed
as Workgroup are test projects!
