Hi Confused
Here's a random list of what I would consider before storyboarding this kind
of presentation:
- how long have you got for your presentation
- will you be standing at the front with a data projector, going through a
print-out, somewhere in between
- who are the interviewers
- what industry/type of job is it (for example if it's a creative industry
job I would do a creative presentation, for a more conservative industry I
would use a more conservative approach)
- what exactly is the wording of the request - is it an exercise in
following instructions or an exercise in creativity
- try to avoid using an inbuilt template without any modification as you
don't want to be using the same backgrounds etc as the person before you
- find out about the equipment that will be used, in particular the
PowerPoint version to avoid issues on the day
- rehearse, rehearse, rehearse. Out loud.
Once you know a bit more (and don't be afraid to phone and ask them - many
potential employers will be glad you've taken it so seriously) you can start
to come up with a plan. What key points do you want to touch on? How are you
going to organise those points (e.g. a timeline, or a selection of
headings)? How are you going to illustrate those points (try thinking beyond
the ubiquitous bullet point - if nothing else you'll probably stand out)?
Good luck with the project - let us know how you get on
Lucy
