I am receiving this message:
553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.7.1)
after I want to reply to e-mails.
Could somebody tell me what is it and how to solve it?
Thanks.
The mail server which you are using to send the reply is not on the
domain to which you are connected. The ISP to which you connect refuses
to pass SMTP traffic off their network to some SMTP server off their
domain. This is to eliminate spammers from hiding behind one domain
while sending e-mails through a server somewhere else. You have to use
the SMTP server of the ISP to whom you connect. From whom do you get
your Internet connection? Are you using *their* SMTP server?
The error can also occur as a result of the targeted SMTP server
recognizing that you are coming from off their network to use their
resources. Since you never authenticated to their mail server, they
don't know if you have an account with them to give you permission to
use their resources. So it could be an SMTP server rejecting inbound
connections that originate from off its own domain. You could try
configuring your e-mail account to authenticate to the SMTP server to
see if they want to know who you really are when you try to use their
mail server.
