What is docx?

I need to send an assignment to my instructor and she can not open the
attachment the file ends with docx. What is docx and how can I fix
of this??

You're using Word 2007. The .docx format is new in that version. Your
instructor would need to download a converter to be able to open it.

Instead, open the document in Word 2007, click the Office button,
choose Save As, and set the "Save as type" dropdown in the dialog to
"Word 97-2003 document (*.doc)". Click OK. Then make sure you send the
..doc version to your instructor instead of the .docx version.
