What is going on?

Is there somthing going on with the newsgroup server, possibly Swen related?

For a week or so, I often get "The Message is no longer available on the
server" when I click on a post from Oulook Express. I have never had this
before. And it takes for ever to get the next unread messages, even if they
are all under 2k.... Is something wrong with my Outlook Express, or with the
MS server?
Anybody else experiencing problems and frustrating dealys, or is it just me?

???????

There have been Swen related problems with the servers. Actually, there is
a master server and a number of slaves and I understand that it has been
necessary to re-build the servers and what can happen is that you get the
message header from one slave and then when you go to open the message, you
access a different slave that is out-of-sync with the other.

If you set up the synchronization in OE so that it downloads the messages,
not just the headers, so that you get both at the same time, the incidence
of "The Message is not longer available on the server" messages will be
reduced/eliminated, but of course, you will only get the messages that are
on the slave to which you are connected.

That's my understanding of the situation and it may not be 100 percent
correct.

Please post any further questions or followup to the newsgroups for the
benefit of others who may be interested. Unsolicited questions forwarded
directly to me will only be answered on a paid consulting basis.

Hope this helps

Thanks Doug,

It makes a lot of sense!

At least now I can relax and wait until this situation caused by that
"/#$"%$"#//$/#$%?%*&? of a Swen virus blows over!

Cheers
