I am trying to find out what the backup/restore data facility does. As a test
I have created a back up of my contacts with just a few contacts in as a
MSSmallBuisness file on a separate hard drive. I have then removed the
contacts from the contact folder expecting them to be restored on doing the
restore database. Why are they not restored??

Hi And thanks for reply...
not quite sure what you mean...
Here is question again I have tried to make it clearer..

I am trying to find out what the backup/restore data facility does. As a test
I have created a back up of my contacts with just a few contacts in as a
MSSmallBuisness file on a separate hard drive.
I have then removed the
contacts from the contact folder IN THE CONTACT FOLDER IN OUTLOOK expecting
them to be restored on doing the
restore database USING THE MSSmallBuisness FILE THAT IS ON MY SEPARATE HARD
DRIVE..
Why are the contacts that I assum are in the backup file not restored??
The other question would be how can I open the BACK UP FILE??
This question arises because I had a computer stolen which was XP and cannot
get the backup file I had made to open anywhere/how and with this new
computer I want to make sure I have a backup that will work...
Thanks for your time...

Basically BCM and Outlook are two different programs. Although BCM
appears in Outlook, they each have their own data. So when you backup
BCM, you are only backing up the data in the BCM folders, and not the
data in the Outlook folders.

Backing up Outlook's PST file is a popular solution.
