Hi Art:
Yep. That's "Normal"
The Normal Template is a specially-structured document (a "template") that
acts as a 'scratch-pad' for Word. It's where Word stores a lot of the
settings changes and formatting changes each user makes. Each user has
their own copy of Normal, and it's where Word keeps a lot of the "per user"
settings.
A template has the same content as a document, plus several other containers
that are not present in the document file structure. These store things
such as autotext, autocorrect, macros and toolbars.
People can waste a lot of time trying to ensure that Normal is not changed
and therefore won't be saved when you quit. It is barely possible to
achieve this, but I don't see it as a good use of my time
Normal is a scratch-pad: let it save
Cheers
Okay, I'm new to the Mac and new to Office for the Mac. And, fairly new to
Word. What is NORMAL? The NORMAL template (template, right?) Seems to get
saved, or rather re-saved, every time I close Word.
