What is OCR and MDI and how do I get documents out of this formt

Please assist me with OCR and how I must have made a mistake getting into
this program? I now cannot print any normal Word Document as it says it is a
midi doc.
I need this doc faxed out to my sister doctor inthe next 1/2 hour. canyou
help me?
Christine OS is Widows XP and of course Microsoft Outlook.
