What is runtime error

I'm getting a Runtime Error MicrosoftVisual C++.
ProgramC:\ProgramFiles\MicrosoftOffice\Office10\WINWORD.EXE. abnormal program
termination. That's what my computer says and it keeps shutting down my
Microsoft Word program. What's happening?
