what is ; (semi colon) in excel, what does it do

In Excel worksheets the semicolon is just another printable character. In
VB/VBA it has some special meanings like on Print # statements it is used to
stop the insertion of the new line character.

Could be a separator in some Language Settings.

i.e. used in place of a comma.

=SUM(A1;B1;C1)
