What is splitting of taks,its impact on bussiness and how can it be prevented

A project manager assigns a team member to work on a task 8 hours per day
for 5 days, beginning on a Monday. The team member reports the following
Actual Work on his/her My Tasks page in Project Web Access:

M T W Th F
8 8 8 0 8

When the project manager accepts the task update, the Gantt bar in the
Microsoft Project plan shows a task split (shown with a ... symbol) on
Thursday, since the team member did not Actual Work on the task on Thursday.
As you can see, the task split shows what really happened. Thus, there is
no way to prevent this, nor should there be! Hope this helps.
