What is the criteria for a 'helpful' answer to forum questions?

I was wondering what is the criteria for a 'helpful' answer to a forum
question?

Do I get 3 Hotmail accounts and say that the answer was helpfu three times?
Or do I become a Microsoft Employee and with admin privs - turn any answer to
a 'helpful one' so that I'll look good to my boss?

The 'helpful answers' increments your login profile (Users Helped). I just
want to see this place as an equitable forum.

I clicked "Why should I rate a post" under "Was this post helpful?" and got
this URL back:
http://www.microsoft.com/wn3/locales/help/help_en-us.htm#RateAPost. That
says, "When a post has a rating count of at least three, and the ratio of
score/rating count is 2/3 or greater, the post is marked as “helpful.†"

Unfortunately, I need to be in IE to see the Help link, when I'm looking at
this newsgroup on the web. I don't know if it shows up in newsreaders.

I'll try to rate posts that seem helpful!
