What is the deal with templates?

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I saw that bot asking the same thing over and over again and I understand the answers given. But, what I would like to know is:

1. How do you use the CAB files that are what the templates are compressed with off of the main Office site?

2. Why doesn't the MBU provide any support for templates for the Mac version of office? I understand there is an outdated 2004 page, but what about a small site comparable to the Windows one? Or better yet, why not get big brother over there to support the Mac users too (besides VBA based templates)?

Really, this is pitiful. There should be a way for Mac users to exchange templates just like Windows users can.

Oh, I just noticed the link at the bottom of the website sending us to the 2004 Mac Templates pages.

Thanks Microsoft, you really know how to make paying customers feel like they are unwanted.

It's 2009. Windows users get a nice flashy and up to date site while we get shoved into a five year old wasteland. Nice.

There is no easy way. They are not supported under MacOS X.
You could install them in Windows and copy the files over to your Mac
though. As long as there is no VBA in the templates, you'll be fine.

What do you mean?? Office 2008 sure supports templates. I use them all
the time.
Oh and by the way... The MacBU won't answer here. This is a peer-support
site.

Well we can. I don't understand what's not working for you.

Where di you look this up?? If you looked it up on the Office for
Windows section, it's not a big surprise that there was no mention of
Office for Mac...

There are plenty of built-in templates in Office 2008. Look them up,
some of them might suit your needs.
