What is the difference b/w "importing" & "inserting" a chart?

Excel gives two different instructions for how to "import" a chart and how to
"insert" a chart? What is the distinction between when to use these two
methods?

You can insert a chart by entering the data on a worksheet, then using
the Chart Wizard to create the chart. Jon Peltier has instructions on
his web site:

I'm not sure what it means to import a chart. Where did you see those
instructions?
