what is the difference between Now() and Today()

Mary

Both seem to change when you reopen the spreadsheet. I'd like the date I
create the worksheet to be saved and not updated everytime I reopen it. Any
ideas?

Mary,

Today() is today's date
Now() is literally that the date and time NOW

Both will update so to get a static date try

CTRL + ;

Now() includes the time as well as the date.

You would need to remove the formula to do that, and replace with the value.

Try Ctrl-; (semi-colon) in the cell.

Hi Marie,

As the functions say today() =date, now() is timestamp including time on
date.
