What is the formula for cumulative year to date totals in Excel?

What is the formula for cumulative year to date totals in Excel? I am setting
up a worksheet where a monthly total is entered and then added to another
column for a year to date total. Thank you

The standard is to store all months in the spreadsheet. The problem with
adding the entered month to a cumulative total is, what if you make a
mistake? How do you correct it?

When you store all months, errors are easy to correct, and you have a much
better history of your data.
