What is the maximum number of links?

On the Excel Help pages it says that this property is determined by th
size of memory, but does anyone have any experience of what this mean
in practice?

I'm looking to link '000s of spreadsheets so is this feasible?

I suspect you are unlikely to get a definitive answer as it really does
depend on the type of link.

Thousands of 'this cell = that cell' should be fine, but add VLOOKUPs or
similar and forget it!

Limited by available memory is usually MS's way of saying there are too many
variables to do the maths!
