What is the purpose of the CustomPolicy registry keys for Word?

The Office 2007 Group Policy and OCT Settings spreadsheet has a New Document
Links section. In that section it shows registry keys for
Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\New Document\CustomPolicy

Does anyone know what is the purpose for these keys?
