What is the use of a "Form" template.

EmuPooh Nonames

I have just spent a good few hours creating a form for a project that I am
attempting to start where I have several people entering the data. I have
discovered that it is not possible to use this as the front end to pass the
data onto an excel sheet. Is this correct that in Office v2004 you can not
do this directly as I thought was possible in vX.

If you can how do you set it up. I have attempted to find tutorials on the
use of this (Form files in Word) but it is very thin on the ground.

Any suggestions would be appreciated (links would be good too).
Thank you

JE, did you see this one?

EmuPooh Nonames, I'm not very familiar with it, but I suspect you are
conflating two separate issues here. Setting up Word Forms is one thing.
Dumping data from Word into Excel I think is a totally different step. You
may want to ask on the Excel group how to go about pulling data from Word,
or if it is possible to create forms in Excel.

Tutorials on using forms in WinWord, should translate to Mac okay:
Please Fill out this Form

Part 5 discusses linking the form to an Access database using Active X,
definitely not available on the Mac.

Hey EmuPooh,

On option you could use on your already created Word Form is the Preference:
"Save Data Only For Forms"

Under: Word | Preferences | Save.

When you receive your completed Forms back from your clients, on each form
you can select this option in the Preferences, and then Save out a text
file, which contains only the answers.

You can then compile all the answers, and organize them in an Excel Spread
Sheet.
